Moin server licence Version of 2 October 2026 Copyright © 2026 Asynkron (CVR 42349399), Denmark. All rights reserved. moin-server is proprietary software. It is distributed as a compiled binary and its source code is not public. This licence says what you may do with it. By installing or running moin-server you accept it. "We" means Asynkron. What you may do You may install and run moin-server, free of charge, to host communities of your own: for yourself, your friends, your group, or the company or organisation you are part of, including other companies under the same ownership. There is no limit on slots, rooms or the number of servers you run this way, and it makes no difference whether your group is commercial. A community is your own when you or your organisation run it and decide who is in it. Charging people to be members of your own community is fine. Where you run it is up to you. Renting a machine, a virtual server or space on a cloud or container platform and installing moin-server there yourself is running it yourself. People who work for you, as employees or as contractors you hire, may install and look after moin-server for you. The community is still yours, and they need no permission of their own. You may make the copies of moin-server you need for this, such as backups, a copy in your own private registry, or a container image of your own built around it, as long as those copies stay with you or your organisation. What you may not do Unless we have agreed to it in writing, you may not: - host, run or manage Moin servers for other people or organisations as a service you offer, whether you charge for it or not. This covers hosting providers, resellers, managed and one-click offerings, and anything else where what you offer is a Moin server for someone else's community. - rent out or give away rooms or other space on your server for other people's groups to use as a community of their own. That is hosting for others too. - sell, rent, lease or sublicense moin-server. - redistribute moin-server, on its own or included in something else you distribute, such as a device, an app, an installer or a public mirror. - modify, decompile or reverse engineer moin-server, except where the law gives you a right to that which can't be excluded. - remove or change this licence or any notice that comes with moin-server. Hosting Moin for others If you want to offer Moin hosting, include moin-server in something you distribute, or need terms this licence doesn't give you, write to contact@moin.chat. Third-party software moin-server includes open source software. Its licences are in the THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES file that comes with moin-server. Nothing here limits the rights those licences give you. No warranty moin-server is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss that comes from using it. This doesn't limit liability for intent or gross negligence, or any right you have under consumer law that can't be limited. When this licence ends This licence ends if you break it. When it ends, stop running moin-server and delete your copies of it. Each release of moin-server comes with the licence that applies to that release. The current one is at https://moin.chat/licenses/moin-server.txt. Law Danish law applies to this licence. If you're a consumer, you keep the protection of the consumer law where you live.
